Second edition of UAE AI Summer Camp announced
Minister of State for AI announces 2019 program expanded to educate more students on AI
The UAE's Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, HE Omar Sultan AlOlama, has announced the second year of the UAE's AI summer camp program.
This year's UAE AI Camp will have two rounds, a Spring and Summer edition.
The camp is intended to introduce school-age students, university students and employees in public and private sectors, to key new technologies, particularly AI. Over 5,000 students took part in last year's program.
His excellency Omar Sultan AlOlama, stated: "The artificial intelligence sector is witnessing a remarkable growth in education around the world with an annual growth rate of more than 31% by 2027, as a result of increased interest in the development of advanced teaching methods. Artificial Intelligence will also enhance the ability of students to develop their skills in creating effective solutions for different challenges".
The UAE AI Camp will be organized in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Al Ain, in cooperation with the Federal Youth Authority, Dubai Future Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government, Higher Colleges of Technology, and ACTVET. The Spring Camp will begin in April, and will focus on introducing the most prominent emerging technologies in the field of machine learning and data science, while the Summer Camp will be held in July and August, focusing on the development of robotics and programming skills.
The program is supported by private sector companies including SAP, Autodesk, Microsoft, IBM, Careem, Eventtus, DG World, and Pixelhouse.
