Etihad Esco ready for solar and LED retrofit of 5,000 Emirati homes
Project will see 65,000 solar panels, 295,000 LED lights and 50,000 water savers installed in 5,000 homes
Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) is about to being installation of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on the roofs of 5,000 Emirati homes.
The company says that it has all contractors onboard and has completed surveys for the project that will install 65,000 PV panels; 295,000 LED lights; and 50,000 water savers at villas owned by UAE nationals.
Material procurement, mock-ups and outreach activities are currently in progress, Etihad ESCO reports.
The light and water retrofit is expected to generate energy and water savings for homeowners, with the installation of solar PVs alone set to save 31,102,500 kWh energy. Besides significant energy savings, the initiative, scheduled to be completed by November 2019, will lead to the reduction of CO2 emissions by 21,139 tons annually.
