AGS delegation visited the Abu Dhabi Centre for Waste Management in Al Dhafra
Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, CEO of the Alliance for Global Sustainability Foundation, (AGS), visited the Abu Dhabi Centre for Waste Management in Al Dhafra, to assess a project to recycle construction and demolition waste.
The visiting delegation included Jury Vincent, CEO of the Saudi Recycling Investment Company; Johann van Foren, CFO; Effo Winterman, Head of Waste Management; Fatima Al Hussein, Non-Hazardous Waste Classification Specialist, and Khalid Al Sultan, Investment Specialist at the Saudi Recycling Investment Company.
The visit began with a detailed presentation by the centre’s team on its waste recycling project, followed by a tour of the project facility.
Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Director-General of the Centre, said that the project has improved the emirate’s capacity to recycle construction and demolition waste, reduced the need for natural materials and protect the environment, adding that the visit is part of the centre’s keenness to coordinate with relevant public and private sector authorities.
The project is supervised by the centre, in cooperation with the Al Dhafra Recycling Company. The facility can recycle 8,000 tonnes of demolition and construction waste per day, which can be used to produce gravel for road construction and other infrastructure projects.
