SK Telecom partners with Cisco and Samsung for 5G smart offices
South Korean telco to leverage its 5G network for smart offices
SK Telecom has partnered with Samsung Electronics, and Cisco to develop smart office solutions.
The South Korean telco will leverage its 5G network, which launched in April, to develop new workplace solutions with the two tech majors.
SK Telecom will provide its 5G infrastructure and Samsung will provide its enterprise handsets, Knox security solution, and Samsung Dex. Cisco will provide its network and security solutions.
The partnership will develop products and services for customers, as well as smart office services using 5G wireless networks and mobility.
SK Telecom launched 5G services in April, and according to South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT, there are already over one million subscribers for 5G in the country.
The telco has also signed deals with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to provide HD mapping, C2X and ADAS services via 5G, and has also signed with the Daegu Metropolitan Government and Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency to provide infrastructure for the city’s projects in the National Smart City Strategy Project.
