Sri Lanka to roll out free Wi-Fi hotspots to over 1,000 schools
Free Wi-Fi program will be developed with Sri Lanka Telecom
Sri Lanka has announced plans to equip over 1,000 national schools with free Wi-Fi hotspots.
The government has signed an agreement with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) to develop free Wi-Fi on school premises, the Sunday Times in Sri Lanka reports.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the programme will coincide with plans to distribute laptops among national school students.
Accordingly, around 1050 schools will be equipped with Wi-Fi Zones for its Advanced Level students. The programme is set to get underway next month.
